Notes: The title is a reference to Harry Chapin's folk rock song, "Cat's In the Cradle," which is about a father and son. I have only seen (never read) Comanche Moon and Lonesome Dove, so any information about Woodrow and Maggie in the fic is from my own imagination and from Comanche Moon. 

If anyone from my flist decides to give it a read but has never seen Lonesome Dove, I think you can with little confusion, I tried to stick in enough backstory so that it could read as an original work, not a fanfic. FYI, It's set in the late 1800s.
