What a Feeling
Kissing her wasn’t a conscience decision, it was instinctual; months of disguised longing and women that weren’t her bubbled out of him until he finally couldn’t control his actions any longer. He vividly remembered the taste of her lips, of the little sound that she made in the back of her throat when he ran his tongue softly over her bottom lip… nobody else made that sound. Kissing her was just like he remembered, but this time it was better, so much better.
Alex needed her like he needed air to breathe; not only did he need to touch her, to find those places again that would make her whimper and moan his name like a chant, he wanted to make her smile again, because her smile was brighter than sunshine.
And I’m not going to stop caring about you no matter how hard you push me away.
He didn’t think he could push her away anymore, not after kissing her again and touching her like this. Izzie’s skin was soft under his hands as ran his fingertips up under her shirt, skittering the very tips of his fingernails over her stomach and then across her back, feeling goose bumps appear under his fingers. He was dizzy with the taste of her, the feel of her; no kiss had ever been this good.
Vaguely, he realized that he was pushing them back and when her back hit the wall next to his bedroom door she let out a little huff in surprise. He smiled into her lips, the grin effortless when he was this close to her. Her hands clutched at his shoulders, her palms running over his warm skin, tugging him even closer. Alex fisted his hands in the back of her red shirt and tugged it upwards, managing to get it off of her without leaving her lips. He explored the skin revealed to him with his fingers, pressing lightly into her golden skin as she shivered against him.
He reached blindly for the door and shut it as Izzie’s hands traveled to his face, each palm cradling his head as she pulled her lips away from his. Their breathing was labored and their lips were swollen from their passionate kisses. He reached for her again, his body aching for hers but she pulled away from him, her hands moving down to his chest and pushing at him. Doubt licked at him like an evil flame.
“Alex…” she began but he didn’t want to listen to what she had to say, already it felt like his heart was somewhere near his toes.
A stray thought filtered through his mind uninhibited: She’s changed her mind. He stepped back from her, his eyes suddenly cold and his jaw clenched tightly.
“No, don’t pull away from me, let me finish before you close yourself off, please,” she murmured, her hand reaching out and taking his; when he tried to tug his hand from hers, she held on tight, not letting him go.
He focused on her face, unable to look away even though he wanted to. For the first time he realized that she looked terrified, her determination, while still there, was masked a bit now and she looked vulnerable.
“I need to hear that you care about me to, I know you do, but I need to hear it, please Alex, please.”
A tear ran down her cheek and before he really even thought about it, he wiped it away with his thumb… he hated it when she cried. Words began tumbling out of his mouth, things he had never said before, things he had never thought about saying before, and things that he had kept buried. He didn’t hear half of what he said, he didn’t know of she understood all of it… I need you, I’ve always needed you, you’re everything.
Then, before he could take another breath and worry that he’d given up too much, her lips were on his again and she was curling herself around him, nearly attacking him. She wrapped her legs around his waist and draped her arms around his neck, kissing him fiercely. He responded, tearing her bra away from her body as she struggled with his shirt, making little noises of protest against his lips as it snagged on his belt and refused to budge.
He walked them over to his bed and placed one knee on the bed, setting her down gently before he ripped his shirt over his head, not caring that he looked desperate. He gazed down at her for a moment, his eyes roaming over her forehead, arousal-bright eyes, swollen lips, succulent collar bone, and heaving breasts; peace washed over him… he was home, finally, and it was their turn now.
